This program is coordinated through the Office of Adult and Community Education of Fairfax County Public Schools. Students learn basic vocabulary and phrases as well as information about the language and culture. Instructors use dialogue, songs, stories, and games in the first and second year of instruction. Advanced students learn reading, writing and grammar. Languages offered at Hayfield Elementary School in the past include Spanish, French, Italian, and German. The FLEX program has had instructors in Spanish, French, Italian, German, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic and Sign Language.
